The glass beads were found in Java and Sumatra and are from the Early Classical Period, 750 - 1000 AD. The glass beads are considered to be Indo-Pacific beads. The colors are several shades of blue, green, yellow and an opaque brick red red. The opaque red color is the most prevalent color found, the blues the rarest.
The faceted bicone carnelian beads come from Central Java as well. Since they were found with Indo-Pacific beads, they date to 750-1000 AD. More than 80-90% of the carnelian was found in various stages of ‘devitrification’ or decay, the good condition of the remaining beads here belies their age. Their relative rarity compared with the drawn glass beads of the period would suggest an item of high value for its original owner.
